Blizzard har tidigare gått ut med att företagets målsättning är att släppa en WoW-expansion per år. I ett dagsfärskt uttalande hos Eurogamer bekräftar Blizzard-chefen Mike Morhaime att dessa ambitioner finns kvar. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich Kings släppdatum är den 13 november och håller således tidsplanen, men enligt Morhaime kommer nästföljande expansion inte hinna släppas under 2009.
That's still the ideal goal. But as with anything, there is this underlying rule that trumps everything, which is that we'll take as much time as we need until... it reaches the expectations of ourselves and our players.
Morhaime påpekar också att Blizzard allmänna hållning är att expansionens innehåll är viktigare än när den lanseras.
